Musical Theater = The 1920's style

In the 1920's things were done.....Differently....many people how thought they had talent, went to a place like a bar, cafe, or even a casino. When you think about it, Buildings, in general, have changed over the years. Back in the 19's buildings were very tall, Wide and had so many windows I was surprised no one was scared people would look through at them.
But the fashion....god I LOVE there fashion, it's actually better than ours these days. The fashion consisted of :

Men: A vest that either was waist length or 10 centimeters above your bottom. Pants that started from your shoes to your waist. Shoes that wear pointed (although not All of them were), and to top it off, A hat and a jacket over the vest.

Woman: Now the woman was more complicated. Each female had their own style, but it usually came back to the things like dresses, funny looking headbands and hats, really, REALLY, long glove's, and lots and lots of makeup. Back then women wanted to be beautiful, Princesses practically. But it sometimes didn't work out for some women.

Jobs: For jobs men took on the big roles' like, Businesses, Loyer, builder, those types of jobs. For women, it was limited, either, maid, singer, dancer.

Entertainment: Dance was awesome, you had the tap dancing, line dancing, Lindy hop, tango, and the waltz. Films were black an white, there wasn't much singing though.

What went well Today?

Today I got some research done on the project and I also drew a diagram of the island

24th October 2018 Wednesday

Bella: Research, Bailey: Paragraphs, Maddison: Drawing

What went well today?

Well, I got a map done of Hawaii and I got the function of the volcano done too.

Is there anything you need help with? Who can help you?

I think the only thing I need help with is finding paper to put them on, I can ask Mrs. Handley

What didn't go well today?

We Hardly got any research done, so I think we should finish it at home.

How Will you Improve on that next time?

We should, instead of talking about other things get on to the work.

Tomorrow, when the war began assessment - Maddison Hansen

Tomorrow, when the war began - ESSAY

Question: Describe a key moment that shocked or surprised you in the written text. Explain how this moment was important to the text as a whole.

Question: Describe a key moment that shocked or surprised you in the written text. Explain how this moment was important to the text as a whole.

Introduction:
Tomorrow, when the war began was written by a man named John Marsden. From my argument to my statements, I hope you find this interesting. Marsden wrote this book in 1993 and has also written 5 to 6 more to the tomorrow series. Tomorrow, when the war began is a story that has been a very frustrating, exciting, and sad book at the same time. There were parts in the book that were interesting, like the Hermit, or there were sad times were Ellie had killed the soldier in the lawn mower accident. But altogether, it was awesome.

Body:
When they decided to blow up the bridge, I was shocked, but most of all surprised. They were taking action, they were proving not only to the invaders but to themselves that they were capable of something. Homer was the one to come up with the idea, by him saying," can we just go up to the Heron?, I want to have a look at something." They had gone to the heron,(the river, which is under the bridge) and looked out, to see what was happening. Homer had said after a bit " Let's blow it up" and so they were going to. with this Homer showed the same real courage, responsibility, and most of all honor.

When Ellie and Fiona went to get the tanker, Ellie felt ' Nervous being paired with Fiona', but she knew she would have to get over it. when the made it to 'Churr's blue star fuel and oil distributors,' they had to use their teamwork skills. I personally, was very intrigued by the way they found and got it to, go under the bridge. Shocked and surprised also. When the girls see some sentries coming along, they jump out and made a run for the tree line. The sentries didn't even see the tanker, and just continued moving forward. Now this part surprised me, because, wouldn't you notice a big tanker they're, (I differently would have.) But Ellie and Fiona made it to the bridge and blew it to pieces.

When Homer and lee were to gather the cows to clear the bridge of any soldiers, Homer had to help lee out, with herding the cows, he had told him to 'hiss' at them because they don't like snakes. All the well, Ellie and Fiona were having a heart to heart conversation. fiona had started to talk about homer saying," He's like two people, He's shy with me but confident when he's in a group. But he kissed me on Monday and I think that broke the ice a bit. I thought he'd never do it. In the book I never really thought that falling in love would have been impossible, well boy was I wrong. Lee and Ellie, then Homer and Fiona, Kevin and Corrie were already together.

Conclusion:
My conclusion would have to be, that, I was shocked and surprised right throughout the howl book. But I've also gotta say, that the book is way better than the movie.

Tomorrow when the war began - Chapter Seventeen

Why does Ellie feel uncomfortable with Chris bringing cigarettes and alcohol into Hell?

There is the fact that she was thinking about how far the ' Souveniring ' idea could go. Then she was thinking about all the laws that they have broken.

What is meant by a “clean war”? Why are the invaders so intent on having a ‘clean war’?

I think it means, that no blood is shred.

What happened to the soldiers involved in the lawnmower incident, according to Robyn? How does this make Ellie feel?

Two soldiers were killed and one was injured, Ellie felt horrible.

Why do you think prisoners are sent to clean up the houses around town?

Sending them to clean them out so the invading people can use them.

What does Kevin want to bring into Hell by way of livestock? Do you think his idea is a good one? Why/why not

He wanted a Ferret. And I think that it's a bad idea, Because the ferrets could kill the rabbits, but that also could be a good thing.

Social Studies - Creative Writing

The Immigrants that traveled to New Zealand

In the 19th century Families and friends were going to the ports, for a long journey to New Zealand. Most from Europe opted for North America because It was a shorter and cheaper passage across the Atlantic. On the day people were leaving their home and loved ones, No one was in a talkative humor as they took one last long look at their homeland. When they were on the ships they had there entertainment and distractions. These were Sights of dolphins, flying fish, albatrosses, and whales. Cabin passengers at least, had books, chess, and cards. Quoits, a game using plaited rings, was played on the deck. Simple debates about the performance of plays.

The steerage was a low-ceilinged space beneath the main deck. Steerage passengers generally outnumbered those in the cabins by 10 to 1. They ate sheep, pigs and poultry were carried and killed periodically to provide fresh meat for the cabin passengers table, they also had fresh milk. When it came to cleaning them self, they had no fresh water and if they used the sea-salted water it wasn’t pleasant even if they used special soap.
The children were the ones that got sick and died as well. The infectious disease they got were; scarlet fever, diphtheria, whooping cough, and the measle. In the 1860s and 1870s, one in five of the infants below the age of one died on the voyage. The shepherd diet lacked supplies of preserved milk and was overloaded with starchy foods. The surgeon of a ship on witch 18 children died in 1874 declared more preserved milk and food containing protein, such as eggs, cheese, and beef tea, should be carried on ships with large numbers of children.

When they were moving to New Zealand they were manly British, There were also the French and the Germans. There were fewer than 100 French that settled in Akaroa in 1840. When the Germans arrived, they arrived in two shiploads in 1843-1844 and settled close to Nelson. A vast majority of the fares were paid by the New Zealand government company. The people on the ships were mostly of family. There were just as many women as men, and almost half of this group were children. Almost two-thirds came from three areas in southern England, the home counties of Kent and Sussex, the far South-West of Cornwall and Devon, and London itself. When they were leaving they went to the ports close to London and Plymouth from which ships set sail for New Zealand.

Tomorrow, when the war began - Can do task's

23 August 2018

3. Writing

Chris fell asleep on sentry duty. Rewrite an ending to this event where the teenagers are found by the invaders. Whose point of view are you writing from? What happens? How do they react/feel?

When I find Chris asleep I just, I don't know, explode. but before I could say anything, I hear a twig snap. I froze, Chirs heard it and woke up, he moved so fast, he grabbed my arm and pulled me behind him.

"Robin, go get the other's, I'll handle this," he said.

I was scared, fare overtook me, I couldn't move. Chris noticed me frozen. He turned around and grasped my face in his hands.

"Robin, I promise you we will e okay, Okay?...... Now Robin go, run, RUN!!!!" he whisper-yelled at me.

You know what I did, I ran, I ran like a little girl. 30 minutes later, Chris came over to me where I was sitting.

" They were just loters...... but uhhm, you okay?"

"Yeah just peachy" I stand up and go to walk away, ut Chris grasped my forearm.

"Hey, I'm just asking, you don't have to get angry."

"I'm not angry, but....Thanks" When I was walking away Chris said, " What are friends for."

Tomorrow, when the war began - Chapter twelve

“They say teenagers can sleep all day”. Is this true? Do you agree? Does Ellie still see herself as a typical teenager?

Teenagers can sleep for as long as won't. Ellie does and doesn't see her self as a typical teenager.

Ellie’s dream at the beginning of the chapter is rather nonsensical, as dreams are wont to be. Is there any meaning to it? Try and explain what Ellie’s subconscious could be thinking about: why is her dad cooking for the whole town? Why did Father Cronin ignore Ellie’s greeting? Why was Corrie 8 years old again? Why were they sailing off on a boat? Why was Lee undressing?

Why is it so terrible that Chris falls asleep while on sentry duty? How does Ellie react? Why do you think she reacts this way? How does she feel about her reaction later?

Back in Hell, Ellie’s dreams are far more ominous. Explain why Ellie is dreaming of her fears.

English - Tomorrow when the war began - Chapter four

Do you think the way they handled the snake incident was appropriate? What could they have done differently?

I kind of like the way they did it.

Ellie claims that ‘Hell’ is only a label and that people label things all the time, often ignoring or overlooking certain labeled places or things. She then comes to the conclusion that ‘Hell was people’. Is she right? What’s your opinion, on labeling and Hell?

I think she is right, I don't label people until I know them.

What was especially peculiar about the planes that flew over Hell? ‘Their ------, their ------, their----- frightened me.’ Do these characteristics have any significance?

Their noise, their speed, their darkness frightened me.

Corrie and Kevin are the only couple in the group, but the trip was bound to bring friends closer. So why does Homer’s interest in Fi seem so odd to Ellie?

Maybe she has a thing for him and doesn't even know it.

Fi brushes off the planes coming back from Commemoration Day. Why do you think the planes were flying over Wirrawee?

Robyn claims there were dozens and dozens of planes flying over them. What is Lee’s response? Is his suggestion reasonable?

English - Tomorrow, When the war began.

Must Do Questions:

Looking at the original cover to the right, answer the following questions, remember to explain why you think that for each other:

How do you think it will be written? I think there the story will be being read by more than one person.

Why do you think the story is entitled as it is? maybe it's because the war started tomorrow.

Where do you think the story will take place? Australia.

What time period do you think the story is set in? The 2000s

Consider the effect of the following choices-

English - Tomorrow, When the war began - Chapter one

1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of first-person narration?

We miss out on the emotional feelings and thoughts of the other people.

2. Why do you think Ellie needs to tell the story in chronological order?

Because think it would make more sense.

English - Tomorrow when the war Began - Chapter Three

Why does Robyn think they are the only people ever to have gone into Hell?

Because nobody has seen how beautiful it is.

Why do you think the valley is called Hell?

Because people think that people died there.

Why must the teenagers seem like visitors from hell to the wild things living in the clearing? How is this ironic?

They seem like visitors because the animals have never seen them before. This is ironic because well... It just is.

What picture of Kevin do we get in this chapter?

He can be nice and also an asshole at the same time.

What does Ellie liken Fi to? Do you think this is a fair assessment of her character? Use examples from the text to support your thinking

Fi has a hard life, like because her mum and dad don't let her eat two- minute noodles.

At times Ellie switches her narration from retelling the story to commenting about her life in the present - why do you think the author has chosen to write in this style?

Because it brings something different into the story.

English - Tomorrow, When the war began - Chapter Two

How did the group of teenagers ascend Tailors Stitch?

They Ascended Tailor's stitch by driving the landrover.

What are the two special events happening the day after the teenagers leave for the bush?

commemoration day and the amusement park.

How many days were they planning on staying? How much food do you think is reasonable to bring, split among 7 teenagers?

They were planning on staying for a week, five days. and I think maybe a lot of food, considering boys usually eat more.

Who is the Hermit and what is he supposed to have done?

Hermit is a story of an old man that killed his wife and baby.

Do you think the Hermit will be significant to this story? Why/Why not?

Yes, maybe they will find out the real story about what really happened.

Is their decent down Satan’s Steps into Hell dangerous? Discuss what are the dangers, how could they have made it safer, what would you have done?

I have no clue

Predict what the bridge signifies

The way to Hermit's hut :)

Health

Today I learned about the physical and mental and emotional and spiritual things of a human.

My Physical wellbeing is in an Okay condition. I'm at the average size, But I'm not at the average height of a fourteen-year-old.

The things that I do well to look after my taha tinana are cleaning myself, being happy. Being with my friends.

The thing that I could do better for my physical wellbeing are don't hurt myself.

This dimension is one of the 4 dimensions that I do/don't need to work on.

English- Scene

My SEXXY Paragraph.

Statement
Example
Explanation of Director’s Purpose
Explanation of Effect on the Audience
Your Link
In the sene, Sargent Borman has G.p up against the wall in the close-up.
In the sene the Sargent’s face is up close to G.p and he has him up against the wall. He has a batern against his nick and G.p looks as tho he is choking
I think the Director was going for a dramatic scene where G.p is getting hurt and is experiencing something bad
The audience gasps at this scene because when Geel Piet is up against the wall and choking, it’s sad and frightening.
Sargent Borman doesn’t like Geel Piet and in the next scene, Sargent Borman kills Geel Piet because of the hatred.

This is the scene that I'm working on

English-The power of one SEXXY paragraph

Statement: The director uses a long shot to show that the guard knows GP is up to something.

Example: The long shot shows both sergeants Borman's legs in the foreground and GP in the background we also see Borman’s baton in his hand.

Explanation of directors purpose: The director intended to show Sergeant Borman's violent intentions towards Geel Piet.

Explanation of effect on the audience: This makes the audience want to get involved in the situation and stand up for Geel Piet. It causes us to feel worried and anxious in anticipation of what sergeant Borman will do we feel sympathy for Gp even though we knew he has broken the rules.

My link: This shot links to the scene where Sergant Borman beats and kills Gp during the prison concert because this scene also makes the audience feel anxious and upset about G.P's fate.

Social Studies - Are you ADDICTED to your phone/device???

Q? Are you ADDICTED to your phone???

The research was RIGHT. Children in schools now 'ARE' addicted to there cell phones and their other device. When I asked Conner and Amy if they were addicted to their phone/device the both said 'YES'.When I asked O'shea if he was addicted to his phone/device he said 'NO'.

When I asked Conner and Amy what the app/website they use they said, Snapchat and Instagram. Amy said the main reason she use's Snapchat is to talk to her friends who are right next to her. Conner said he use's Instagram to look at photo's and talk to his friends. They said that they both go on them for 10 minutes every period. Then I asked O'Shea the same thing and he said: "When I use my Phone it is to talk to my per's and to do school work."He said that he checks his phone every hour.

At the end after the I did the video's I ended up deleting them by accident and well, I don't have the videos.

Social Studies - Reflection

This term I've learned:

The first thing we learned this term is how to make and how to put things on the map in the right way.
I've learned the FACKTS.

I've learned about Human Rights and about Human Trafficking,

We are affected by human rights all the time.
Children that live in countries like Pakistan, Afganistan, Germany, Rusha etc.
I think that we should somehow find a way to stop human Trafficking and to stop breaching peoples' Human rights.

We've been learning about slaves.

Iqbal was killed at the age 13-14 because he was fighting for the right to be free.
